Welcome to the Official
Vote for Rick James website
Rick and Diane James have announced that they are
heading up a "ONE MAN MARCH" on Saturday, August 6, 2005. The
march is dedicated to registering people to vote across the entire
United States. This is the first anniversary of the
death of the funk icon who
shared the same name. Because of the renewed interest in the
election process that resulted from the media coverage of my
campaign, we made the decision to further the effort by scheduling a
specific day to register new voters across America, and to encourage
voters to go to the polls for every election.

Rick James
recently ran for Councilman in
Ward 4 of Hattiesburg, Mississippi. No...not the funk
legend...the REAL Rick James. The 53 year old native of
Alexandria, Virginia, has lived in the Hattiesburg area for the past 20
years. Rick, who has spent more than 25 years in the radio
industry working at stations across the nation resigned a
position as a healthcare worker for the State of Mississippi to run for
a seat on Hattiesburg's City Council.
Somehow this caused quite a stir in the community
since mid-April, when his campaign signs started disappearing from
yards. He later learned how Comedy Central's Dave Chappelle's
impersonation of Rick James had created renewed interest in the King of
Funk...thus the disappearing signs.

assistant to former United States Congressman Ronnie Shows. Both
Rick and Diane worked on Shows' campaigns against Congressman Chip
Pickering. Diane is currently Metro Crime Stoppers Coordinator for
the Hattiesburg Police Department, Petal Police Department,
Forrest County Sheriff's Department and
Lamar County Sheriff's Department.
She supervisors a crime hotline that
takes anonymous tips and rewards area citizens for their
confidential information.
