They pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue.

Congress passes "Hates Crimes" bill

To assure its passage after years of frustrated efforts, Democratic supporters attached the measure to a must-pass $680 billion defense policy bill the Senate approved 68-29.

October 22, 2009

U.S. Congress Morning Bell: A Whole New Healthcare Ballgame

October 22 2009 - Heritage Blog

The Senate took its first floor vote on Obamacare yesterday and the White House lost. Big. The NYT reports: "Democrats lost a big test vote on health care legislation on Wednesday as the Senate blocked action on a bill to increase Medicare payments to doctors at a cost of $247 billion over 10 years. The Senate majority leader, Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, needed 60 votes to proceed. He won only 47. And he could not blame Republicans. A dozen Democrats and one independent crossed party lines and voted with Republicans on the 53 to 47 roll call."

"The common enemy of humanity is man.  In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill.  ...The real enemy then is humanity itself.

Mississippi state capital at Jackson Mississippi Sovereignty Update

Rep. Steven Palazzo
Conservative Republican
District 116 - Harrison County
House of Representatives

In early January, conservative house members drafted a bill that was similar to the Oklahoma resolution but also catered to the diverse makeup of our political body.  We were trying to be politically sensitive for our colleague's sake.

The resolution was assigned to a committee in March but no action was taken until May.  It was heavily amended by liberal democrats, passed the house then allowed to die.  However, after the amendments, it was a good thing it died.  The amendments showed me and my fellow conservatives that our liberal friends have no respect for our State Constitution and even worse, none for the U.S. Constitution.  By not affirming our very own sovereignty as a state we are neglecting our constitutional responsibilities upon which we personally have taken an oath to uphold.

Congress wants to put hate-group ban into law

Oct 21, 2009 Wednesday
Rick Maze - Staff writer

The job of recruiters could get tougher as a result of a provision in the compromise 2010 defense policy bill that bars enlistment of anyone who has been an active participant in an extremist group.
This would include any groups advocating discrimination based on race, sex, creed, religion or national origin, especially if the group advocates to the use of violence - something recruiters will have to screen for if the bill becomes law.
